Getting started

What The Tea Report is and how to run your first check.

  • What is The Tea Report?
The Tea Report is a private people-search report that specializes in potential-partner research but can be used to look up any adult in the United States for permitted personal, informational purposes. It organizes identity signals, available public-record and court-record leads, US sex-offender registry checks, work and education context, contact and social signals, and aggregate Community Tea tags. It is not a consumer report and cannot be used for employment, housing, tenant, credit, insurance, or other FCRA-covered decisions.
  • Do I need an account before I can run a report?
No. You can start a search right away and pay at checkout. Your report link is sent to the email you use at checkout, and you can create an account with that same email afterward to save and re-open your reports.
  • What information do I need to look someone up?
A first and last name plus a US city and state are required to start. Age or age range, email, phone number, company, school, or a public social profile are optional details that can help distinguish people with similar names.
  • How long does a report take?
Most reports are ready within a few minutes. We email your report link the moment it's done, so you don't have to wait on the page.

Your report & accuracy

What's inside a report, where the data comes from, and how to read it.

  • What's included in a report?
Identity, work and education history, contact and social signals, property and relationship signals, criminal and court leads, and a US sex-offender registry check — plus Community Tea, where other members weigh in. Each report brings these together on a single page.
  • Where does the data come from?
Licensed public-record and identity databases, court-record providers, US sex-offender registries, and credible public-web sources. Source links, checked dates, and confidence context are shown where available so you can judge what supports an item and how current it may be.
  • How accurate is the information?
Strongly corroborated details sit at the top of the report. Weaker leads — like a possible alternate email — are clearly labeled as leads, not confirmed facts. Public records can be incomplete, filed under a different name, or out of date, so treat a report as a strong starting point rather than the final word.
  • Does a clean or empty report mean the person is safe?
No. A quiet report doesn't prove anyone is safe — it only means we didn't surface public records tied to the details you gave us. Records can be missing, sealed, or filed under another name. Use the report alongside your own judgment and the safety steps on this page, never instead of them.
  • What if I can't find the person, or there's no clear match?
If the candidate list doesn't show a clear match, you can refine your details and try again at no cost. We only count a report once you've picked someone and we've generated it.
  • Can I refine a search before choosing someone?
Yes. If the first candidate list isn't a clear match, refine the details and try again before generating the full report — refining is always free.
  • Can I check someone outside the US?
Not yet. The Tea Report currently supports searches for people in the United States only. If the person lives outside the US, we may not be able to return accurate or complete results.

Community Tea & tags

How members' flags, tea tags, and lookup signals work.

  • What is Community Tea?
It's a layer of real experiences on top of the records. Members can leave a green flag or a red flag on a profile, add tea tags (short labels that capture a vibe or a warning), and see how many people have looked someone up.
  • Who can add flags and tea tags?
Signed-in members with an active membership can add or change flags and tags. A tea tag becomes visible to other members once at least two people have added it, so a single one-off entry never stands alone.
  • Are Community Tea contributions anonymous?
Contributions show up as aggregate community signals — counts of flags and tags — not posts tied to your name for other members to see.
  • Something in Community Tea looks false or harmful — what do I do?
Keep contributions to your own firsthand experience — no harassment, outing, or false claims. If something looks false or harmful, email support@theteareport.com and we'll review it.

Billing & membership

Plans, what's included, renewals, and changes.

  • What does the $10 membership include?
Up to 4 complete reports each month. Identity, work, education, contact & social context. U.S. sex-offender registry search. Refine your search before using a report. Automatic credit back if a report fails. Cancel anytime.
  • Membership or a single report — which do I need?
Pick the $15 single report if you want a one-time purchase with no recurring billing. The lower-priced $10/month membership includes up to 4 complete reports each month and renews until canceled.
  • How do I cancel?
Cancel anytime from your account page. You'll keep your reports and any remaining checks through the end of your current billing cycle.
  • Does my membership renew automatically?
Yes — Renews monthly until canceled. You can cancel before your next renewal anytime from your account page.
  • I need a refund or was charged unexpectedly.
Email support@theteareport.com from — or including — the email you used at checkout, and we'll look into it with you.
  • How do I update my payment method?
You can manage your plan from your account page. If you need to change your payment method and can't find the option, email support@theteareport.com and we'll help.

Account & access

Signing in, finding a report, and closing your account.

  • I checked out as a guest — how do I get my report?
Your report link is sent to the email you used at checkout. Open it there, and create an account with that same email to save the report and re-open it anytime.
  • How do I sign in?
Sign in with the email you used at checkout. Using that same email is what links your reports and membership to your account.
  • How do I change the email on my account?
Email support@theteareport.com from your current address with the new one you'd like to use, and we'll move your account and reports over.
  • How do I delete my account and my data?
From your account page, choose Delete account — this queues your reports for permanent removal and cancels any active membership automatically. You can also email support@theteareport.com and we'll handle it for you.

Privacy & your data

How your searches stay private and what we do with your data.

  • Will the person know I looked them up?
No. We never contact, notify, or alert the person you're checking. Your search is between you and us.
  • Is my search private?
Your searches and reports are tied to your account and aren't shared publicly. Community Tea only ever shows aggregate signals — never a record of who searched what.
  • Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell your data, and we don't share what you submit with advertisers or data brokers — only the providers we need to run your search, and only the minimum each one needs.
  • What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your reports stay viewable in your account, and you can request deletion anytime by emailing support@theteareport.com. Delete your account and everything is queued for permanent removal.

Appropriate use & your rights

What The Tea Report can and can't be used for — and how to fix or remove data.

  • Can I use this to screen a tenant, an employee, or for a loan?
No. The Tea Report can be used to research any adult for permitted personal, informational purposes and specializes in potential-partner research. Employment, housing, tenant, and credit decisions are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and require an FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency. We are not one, and our reports may not be used for those decisions.
  • Is it legal to use The Tea Report?
Yes, for personal informational purposes. The public records we surface are legal to access. What isn't permitted is using a report to make an FCRA-covered decision — like hiring, renting to, or extending credit to someone.
  • How do I correct or dispute something in a report?
Email support@theteareport.com with the report and the detail that looks wrong. Because much of the data comes from third-party public-record sources, some corrections have to be made at the original source — but we'll point you to the right place and fix anything on our side.
  • Someone ran a report on me — how do I get my information removed?
The underlying information comes from public-record and people-search sources, so full removal usually means opting out at those sources. Email support@theteareport.com and we'll point you to the opt-out steps and remove anything within our control.

Manage it yourself

Some of the most common requests are just a click away in your account.

A report is a head start, not a guarantee.

A clean report doesn't prove someone is safe — it only reflects what public records show. Trust it alongside your own judgment, and take the same simple steps every time.

  • Video chat before you meet, so you know they match their photos.
  • Meet in a public place the first few times, and arrange your own way there and back.
  • Tell a friend where you'll be and share your live location.
  • Trust your gut — you never owe anyone your time, and you can leave at any point.
